I bet you have seen people waltzing around with a fancy take away coffee cup and you want one too.  Well not only will you look the part at your local coffee shop but you are helping with the ever growing impact the coffee industry has on our planet.

Now I guess your thinking  most coffee cups are paper surely they biodegrade or can be recycled!!

Your take away coffee cup doesn’t burn your hand because most are  lined with polyethylene! This is a nasty plastic that with production makes a high increase on oil consumption and other impacts detrimental to our environment; also is one of those nasty plastics for our health.

So what can biome suggest as a solution for you to help with this coffee cup problem.

The first brand we stocked was KeepCup.

This product is designed and made in Australia, They have a life span of about 4 years, All of the materials used in the KeepCup are BPA free. The cup and lid are made from #5 polypropylene, the plug is a polyethylene polymer called TPU, and the thermal band is made from silicone.

They come in a great range of colours and 3 sizes. We’ve also discovered our  local coffee shop offer us a discount when we use ours so give it a go.

The next brand we discovered was Hookturn this range comes in 3 different colours and 2 sizes. They are made from food grade silicone, a synthetic rubber made from the world’s most available natural resource. It is not a plastic or a petrochemical product. Hookturn also let us know the statistics of just how environmental your being, each reusable cup has a ‘break even point’ – the point at which it becomes more environmentally friendly than the paper cup. The Hookturn BYO Coffee Cup breaks even after 10 uses.
